Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) manages significant Crown lands (including pastoral leases) and rivers in the project area, including the world renowned Lake Pukaki.
In 2021 LINZ announced an investment of up to $12 M over four years from its Jobs for Nature programme to remove pests and weeds in the project area. The funding will provide jobs and restore nature, and allows the project to scale up invasive weed and pest control. It will greatly improve the habitat of some of New Zealand’s most fragile native plants and animals.
