Peter Scott
Environment Canterbury observer
Peter comes from a farming background and is a returning Environment Canterbury Councillor. He was Deputy Chair of the Council for five years during the last two Council terms.
In the current 2022-2025 triennium, Peter is Chair of the Transport, Urban Development & Air
Quality Committee; the Chief Executive Employment, Performance & Remuneration Committee; the Canterbury Regional Transport Committee; and Co-Chair of Te Rōpū Tuia. Peter is also a member of the Greater Christchurch Partnership Committee, Canterbury Mayoral Forum, the South Island Regional Councils, and the Local Government New Zealand Regional Sector Group.

Peter has experience in a range of leadership roles, including as chief executive of Opuha Water, a director of Horticulture New Zealand, and a director of Irrigation New Zealand. He was on the inaugural steering committee for the Canterbury Water Management Strategy. He campaigned on a platform of providing focus and leadership and leveraging strong relationships he has formed across the region.
